How to create Free Item Coupons (using the Admin Dashboard)

The steps below cover all you need to know about creating Free Item coupons via the admin dashboard.

NOTE: Tobacco and Alcohol products are automatically excluded from any coupons created. Please contact our support team if you have any queries regarding this.

1. Log in to the admin area with the logins provided to you (please raise a ticket for our Support Team if you do not have your Admin logins)
2. Click ‘Dashboard’ on the left side of the page
3. Click ‘Coupon Management‘

4. Click on ‘Create New Coupon‘

5. Enter a ‘Coupon Name‘ – Please note this is for internal purposes for tracking and will not be visible to customers. NOTE: Coupon names can only contain Capital Letters or Numbers
6. Ensure that your store is selected within the ‘Store‘ field
7. Select ‘Free Item‘ from the ‘Discount Type‘ dropdown menu

8. Select a Start and End Date from the ‘Start Date‘ and ‘End Date‘ sections

9. Click ‘Next‘
10. Enter the barcode of the Free Item in the ‘Free Item‘ box. An item’s barcode can be found on your store’s Menu by searching for the product and copying the EPOS number. Once the barcode has been entered, click the corresponding item to link it with the coupon

11. Enter a minimum basket spend in the ‘Minimum Basket Spend‘ box. E.g. ’10’ will set a minimum spend of £10 which the customer must spend to redeem
12. You can limit the number of times this coupon can be used. To do so, enter a value in the ‘Redemption Limit‘ box
13. Enter the coupon code within the ‘Coupon Code‘ box you would like for the customer to use. Try and keep this short and simple. E.g. FREELARGEBOTTLE
14. Tick whether you would like this coupon to be for ‘new customers only‘ or leave it unticked if the code is available to all customers

15. Click ‘Next‘
16. The page will present an overview of the coupon where you will have the option to change any of the criteria previously set. E.g. ‘End Date’

17. Click ‘Publish Live‘ to make the coupon Live. The coupon can be saved as a draft to amend/publish at a later date by clicking ‘Save Draft‘
